Denver’s Jim Montgomery named college hockey coach of the year
The University of Denver hockey coach was officially named the top college hockey coach in the nation Tuesday.

Jim Montgomery is your Spencer Penrose Award winner. The University of Denver hockey coach was named the top college hockey coach in the nation Tuesday.
Montgomery has led the Pioneers to a Frozen Four appearance and a 31-7-4 record this season. Denver plays Notre Dame on Thursday with a trip to the national championship on the line.
The Pioneers also advanced to the Frozen Four last year under Montgomery’s guidance. Montgomery is in his fourth season as head coach of the Pioneeers.
The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The game is on ESPN 2.
