Sephora is the latest store slated to join the Denver Pavilions shopping center along the 16th Street Mall.

The Paris-based cosmetics company is expected to lease a spot next to Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant on the ground floor of the Pavilions. The store is targeting this summer for its open date, according to the Denver Pavilions.

“As the largest beauty retailer in America, Sephora is an exceptional addition to Denver Pavilions and the downtown Denver retail scene," said Mark Sidell, president of Gart Properties, in a statement.

Gart Properties owns the Pavilions shopping center and is playing a key role in trying to bring Target to one of its properties on 16th Street.

“Recent additions to Downtown Denver’s retail mix, including household names like Sephora, Target and Uniqlo, show that the center city is top of mind for key national retailers whose products and services meet the needs of Downtown’s growing residential and employee population, and we expect this trend to continue," said Tami Door, president and CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership.

Unlike Uniqlo and H&M which gave Pavilions their first stores in Colorado, Sephora already has locations at nearby malls including the Cherry Creek Shopping Center in Denver, Park Meadows in Lone Tree, FlatIron Crossing in Broomfield and Twenty Ninth Street mall in Boulder. There's also Sephora stores located within some JCPenneys including at The Shops at Northfield Stapleton in Denver.

Still, Pavilions hopes the global brand will be a draw for shoppers.

"Sephora will fit in perfectly with our strong lineup of global, national and local leading retail brands on the 16th Street Mall,” Sidell said. “Its diverse product lines and central location will enable them to cater to their devoted fan base while building new brand enthusiasts here in downtown Denver."

The news of Sephora coming to downtown Denver was first reported by the Denver Post's Emilie Rusch.
