Alamo Drafthouse is opening its doors in Denver's West Colfax neighborhood with a slate of blockbusters.

The movie theater will debut May 15 with "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," followed by "Alien: Covenant," "Baywatch" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" later in the month.

Over the summer, Alamo Drafthouse Sloans Lake will continue with the major films "Wonder Woman," "Cars 3," "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "War for the Planet of the Apes," the theater announced Thursday.

Alamo Drafthouse broke ground on its eight-screen theater at 4255 W. Colfax Ave. in 2016. The company's nearly $14 million investment in the community — including about $3 million from the Denver Urban Renewal Authority — is expected to be a draw for the up-and-coming West Colfax neighborhood.

“I’m so proud and humbled to be a part of this amazing community here at Sloans Lake,” Walter Chaw, vice president of operations for Alamo, said in a statement. “As a Colorado native, I’m thrilled to be involved in the revitalization of one of the most historic neighborhoods in the United States.”

The Alamo in West Colfax is the company's second dine-in theater in Colorado after its spot in Littleton. Another location in Westminster is expected to open in coming months.

The Alamo in West Colfax will have a menu curated by Denver executive market chef Seth Rexroad as well as a 32-beer tap bar called BarFly themed around the beat poets and Denver’s art scene.

To celebrate the opening in Denver, Alamo is offering one winner free movie passes for an entire year. To win, participants will have to show off their movie knowledge and take a short, five-question quiz online here, or sign up for the Alamo Victory rewards program at drafthouse.com/victory. The contest runs until June 30 with the winner being announced July 5.
