Charlie Blackmon wants you to know that the correct pronunciation is “mu-lay.”

“It’s French. Real classy,” Blackmon said while grabbing hold of the tuft of hair that only seems to creep its way farther and farther down his back.

The Colorado Rockies center fielder was, of course, referring to his mullet when answering a question from Chris Rose, host of the MLB Network show “Intentional Walk.” Rose and former big-leaguer Kevin Millar caught up with Blackmon in a fun interview on Monday.

The three of them covered a lot of ground, including which Rockies players enjoyed (and didn’t enjoy) that enormous bull visiting in spring training, what Blackmon did during the bee attack in March and what advice Blackmon’s dad still gives his son about hitting.

(Hint: Lay off those high fastballs, which his dad has recently come to realize is more difficult than it looks.)

Blackmon is finding his groove at the plate after struggling in the very early going. He’s on a nine-game hitting streak, which has helped up his batting average to .266. Blackmon has already hit six home runs this season after hitting a career-high 29 last season. As Baseball Reference pointed out, his 35 home runs since the start of 2016 are the ninth most for an outfielder.
