382-unit Mile High Apartments will get a great view of downtown Denver

Developers recently said adios to the defunct Mi Pueblo Market along West Colfax Avenue to make room for a new apartment building.

The five-story Mile High Apartments were approved by city officials last month. The project is expected to bring 382 units to an area near the West Colfax Avenue and Federal Boulevard cloverleaf, overlooking downtown Denver.

Embrey Development is bringing the Mile High Apartments to 3200 W. Colfax. The San Antonio-based company didn't immediately return a call about the project Tuesday.

In December, a company registered to the same address as Embrey Development — Vue at Mile High LLC — dropped $8.1 million for the roughly 2.5-acre site.

In the '60s, Denver Urban Renewal Authority helped develop the Avondale Shopping Center — also known as Festival Plaza — on the site. In 2011, Mi Pueblo Market opened in the shopping center. It's unclear when the Latino grocery store closed. The supermarket's parent company, Brick Inc., couldn't be immediately reached Wednesday.
