Peyton Manning might have declined to jump from football directly into the broadcast booth this year, but the former Denver Broncos quarterback has agreed to some TV work.

On Tuesday, ESPN announced that Manning will host the ESPYS, the network's annual awards show, that's scheduled for July 12 on ABC.

Wrestler/movie star John Cena hosted the event last year. Comedian/actor Joel McHale hosted in 2015. And rapper/extremely whiny 30-year-old man Drake hosted in 2014.

Manning has done a little broadcast work since retiring from football in March 2016. He was a guest on Comedy Central's Roast of Rob Lowe and actually did quite well. Hopefully, Manning doesn't hold back in July.
