Former Denver Nugget Chauncey Billups has never been shy about expressing his desire to work in a front office role in the NBA. Soon, he might get his chance.

Billups will interview for the Atlanta Hawks general manager job this week, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes. The interview is reportedly scheduled for Tuesday in Los Angeles.

The Hawks general manager job opened up after Atlanta took away head coach Mike Budenholzer's responsibilities as president of basketball operations and reassigned former general manager Wes Wilcox as a special advisor to ownership this offseason.

The Hawks have already interviewed Washington Wizards vice president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard and Golden State assistant general manager Travis Schlenk for the job, ESPN reported.

They're also asking fans via social media who they'd like to see get the job, which seems somewhat bizarre. (Multiple people have already suggested LaVar Ball.)

Billups, 40, is the best professional basketball player to ever come out of Colorado. He played 17 NBA seasons, including five with the Nuggets. He was a five-time All-Star and MVP of the 2004 NBA Finals.

He is currently an ESPN NBA analyst.
