A job fair for the hundreds of Colorado Mills workers who are temporarily out of work as the mall makes repairs after the May 8 hailstorm is expected to be held next week in Golden.
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and the American Job Center serving Jefferson, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties are putting on the fair from 9 a.m. to noon June 7 at Marriott Denver West, 1717 Denver W. Blvd.
Job seekers at the event can interview with reps from numerous companies and apply for available positions.
More than 20 employers are expected to participate in the event including the city of Lakewood, city of Golden, FirstBank, Natural Grocers, Target, Sodexo, Sears, Ameristar Casino Resort Spa, Eliot Management, Walmart, Subway, Jefferson County Human Resources, HomeAdvisor, Home Depot, Staples, Lyft and Performance Driven Workforce.
Other resources to help workers with financial options, training programs, unemployment and other benefits and healthcare options are also expected to be available.
Those unable to attend the event can contact the American Job Center at 303-271-4700, option #1, or email [email protected] for information about job search services and job training assistance. More information is also available here.
Colorado Mills closed May 8 after the hail storm in the area “created openings in the roof, which allowed rainwater to intrude into the mall interior, including all common areas and tenant spaces,” per the company’s description of the event. The mall is expected to reopen in time for the holiday shopping season.
