Sprouts Farmers Market will anchor a 4-million-square-foot mixed-use project near Central Park Station, developers announced Wednesday.
The grocery chain leased 30,000 square feet in the 3500 block of Central Park Boulevard, less than a mile south of The Shops at Northfield Stapleton. Sprouts is targeting a fall 2018 opening date, according to the development team.
The New York City-based real estate firm Newmark Knight Frank announced earlier this month that it’s working on a major transit-oriented development in Stapleton along with Cleveland-based Forest City Realty Trust Inc. and Greenwood Village-based D.H Friedman Properites LLC. Newmark Knight Frank handles leasing for the developers.
Altogether the masterplan for the more than 70-acre development includes more than 1,000 rental units, 400 condos, a 120-room hotel as well as office and retail space, according to Newmark Knight Frank.
Newmark Knight Frank is expected to kick off the transit oriented development — aka TOD — next spring with Central Park Station One. The project is expected to include a 190,000-square-foot, mixed-use office building, 300-unit apartment building, 120-unit condominium project and 60,000 square feet of retail space, according to a news release.
Near where Sprouts is locating, D.H. Friedman Properties is expected to develop the Village at Central Park Station, a 110-unit condominium project with 12,000 additional square feet of retail space.
“Sprouts will be a great addition to Forest City’s visionary plans for Central Park Station, further solidifying its position as an exciting new alternative to downtown, both for urban type residential and commercial opportunities,” developer David Friedman said in a statement.
