After little more than a year slinging craft cocktails and sustainable fare, The Way Back plans to close up shop next month in West Highland and begin work moving somewhere else in the area.
The Wayback didn't immediately provide its new address, but it's planning to move from 4132 W. 38th Ave. to somewhere on Tennyson Street.
"We love working and living in this neighborhood," said Kade Gianinetti, one of The Way Back's three owners.
When the opportunity came to relocate The Way Back to a space offering a more efficient physical plant for the restaurant and bar, as well as increased foot traffic, "we made the business decision to move for the health of our growing company," Gianinetti said in a statement.
Aside from the location, not too much will change. The Way Back will reopen in early 2018 with a similar, responsibly sourced menu from executive chef Marcus Eng. Rachel Wilson, formerly of Rosenberg's Bagels, will be joining the staff as general manager, and Clyde Dolan is coming on board as sous chef, according to a release.
They'll leave the 38th Avenue location with a taco party from 2-6 p.m. Aug. 6.
