Denverites exercise a lot — but not as much as people in Boulder, new survey says

Together, Gallup and Sharecare asked people in 189 communities nationwide if they’d exercised for 30-plus minutes a day three times or more in the last week.

Denverites and those who live in nearby Aurora and Lakewood enjoy their exercise, a new survey indicates.

Together, Gallup and Sharecare asked people in 189 communities nationwide if they’d exercised for 30-plus minutes a day three times or more in the last week.

A little more than 58 percent of the Denver, Aurora and Lakewood residents polled indicated that they had. That came out to the 19th-highest overall mark.

Boulder finished first in the survey designed to measure regular exercise, with a whopping 69.6 percent of respondents there indicating that they’d met the survey’s requirements.

Colorado as a whole scored well. Five Colorado communities, including the two mentioned above, Fort Collins, Greeley and Colorado Springs, finished in the top 20.

The Hickory-Lenoir-Morgantown community in North Carolina finished last in the survey. Only 41.8 percent of respondents there said that they’d exercised for at least 30 minutes three times in the last week.

Ohio was among the states who reported the lowest levels of exercise, with six of its communities finishing in the bottom 25.
