The Whole Foods Market in Denver's Capitol Hill neighborhood is set to close Sunday, Nov. 12, a spokeswoman for the organic and natural grocer confirmed Tuesday.
Whole Foods announced back in February that the company would be closing the store at 900 E. 11th Ave. and transferring about 75 employees to the new, larger location near Denver Union Station.
The Cap Hill store is expected to close 5 p.m. Nov. 12 ahead of the new location opening Nov. 15 near 17th and Wewatta streets, said Heather Larrabee, Rocky Mountain region spokeswoman for Whole Foods.
Whole Foods plans to hold a 50 percent off sale at the Cap Hill store during its closing weekend. After that, Capitol Hill residents will have to decide whether to go two-ish miles to the new store or head in the other direction to the Whole Foods in Cherry Creek or Washington Park.
The Austin, Texas-based grocer said it plans to hold on to the Cap Hill property but still needs to decide how to use the space.
The Whole Foods in Cap Hill is roughly 20,500 square feet, per city records. Whole Foods is considering any of its locations smaller than 35,000 square feet for its new millennial-focused, less-pricey 365 concept.
