The Dutch Bros. Coffee shop planned near Casa Bonita is expected to open about five months later than originally anticipated, the franchise owner said Monday.
The Oregon-based coffee company leased a spot late last year in the Lamar Station Plaza in Lakewood. Franchise owner Dave Szopa originally hoped to open around September but due to a redesign and delay in permitting Szopa is looking to a February opening, he said.
Dutch Bros. is the largest privately-held, drive-thru coffee chain in the U.S. with more than 260 locations and 6,500 to 7,000 employees in Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Colorado.
There are four Dutch Bros. locations in Colorado Springs. A location in Loveland opened last summer and a Fort Collins Dutch Bros. opened in December.
To date, there are no locations in the Denver metro area.
