The Ruby Hill Rail Yard is now open for the 2018 season. Now all we need is some consistent cold.
The free terrain park is free for skiers and snowboarders through February, weather permitting. [turns gaze expectantly heavenward]
If you're wondering how there could possibly be any snow for this: It's man-made. Recent cold weather allowed volunteers from Denver Parks and Recreation and Winter Park Resort to start making snow earlier this month.
“This annual program gives our residents and visitors, especially kids, a means to stay active outside during the winter while also enjoying the fun experience of skiing and snowboarding in the city," said Denver Parks and Recreation Executive Director Happy Haynes in a news release.
The Ruby Hill Rail Yard is now in its 12th season. The terrain park is open every day from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., and it's lighted from dusk until 9 p.m.
