Olde Town Arvada has been the site of a slow-motion race for the last year: It's the reopening of the movie theater vs. the grand opening of the G Line.
Well, it looks like the movies will win. The Harkins Arvada 14, originally slated to reopen last fall, now has an opening date.
The theater will be back in action on Thursday, April 26, just in time for the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War, which hopefully is a Bildungsroman about the Hulk and his therapist, Dr. Anthony Stark. Tickets are on sale now.
Adult ticket prices will be $11.50, or $14.50 for 3D. The revamped theater also features stadium seating, assistive listening devices and a bar.
The theater will serve “Nathan’s Famous mini corn dogs, White Castle cheeseburgers, Oreo churros and much more,” according to the Arvada Economic Development Association. They’re also upgrading seats and projectors.
The previous owner, Landmark, shut down the theater on April 2 before selling it. "It's been a year in the making and the community is thrilled to hear that the grand opening is April 26, 2018," read a statement from the local economic development group.
The G Line, meanwhile, is set to start final testing soon. This has been the Arvada minute.
(Update: Ashley points out that "Bildungsroman" traditionally refers to novels, as the "roman" part means "novel." I'm going to own this one, guys: I didn't know that.)
