Remember when there was a chance Denver could become home to an 81-story skyscraper? Well, the Denver Post reported in February that the project was missing, for now, a key component: land.
But unsurprisingly, the land in question may not stay a parking lot for long.
It's under contract again, according to landowner and Denver developer Buzz Geller. He told Denverite that the deal would still result in a very large building going up at 17th and California. The building that would come to that corner wouldn't be nearly as tall as the previously planned skyscraper, he said, but it would be a sizable addition to the downtown landscape.
Geller told Denverite that a New York-based developer failed to close the earlier deal associated with the 81-story skyscraper. The Post reported that the developer's attorney said they still intend to pursue the project, which as proposed would be an enormous addition to downtown Denver.
