Far northeast Denverites will get a new grocery option in March when a Natural Grocers is scheduled to open at Green Valley Ranch Boulevard and Tower Road.

The store will host a grand opening on March 25, Councilwoman Stacie Gilmore's office confirmed. Colorado-based Natural Grocers has at least 40 other locations in the state, according to its website, including six stores in Denver.

The company did not deliver on multiple requests to provide more specific information about the store.

Gilmore represents the area and has worked over the past few years to lure more grocers there. Her district has struggled to keep a full-service grocery store. Montbello, the neighborhood next to Green Valley Ranch, has also struggled to lure such stores, though programs have popped up to help address access to fresh food.

"It's exciting to see the opening of a new grocery option in District 11 is fast approaching," Gilmore said in an email to Denverite. "This was one of my priorities coming into my first term and we will continue to create even more opportunities for fresh food access and retail in the neighborhood. We have worked toward that goal by creating short-term solutions, supporting community-led options and taking national brands on personal driving tours-and I'm thrilled to welcome Natural Grocers to our district!"

The city's economic development office said no financial incentives were offered to Natural Grocers for their new location.
