Broadway reopens after hourslong closure near 22nd St. as crews investigate structure fire
Someone likely broke into the building and set a fire on the second floor, Denver Fire said.

Matt Bloom/CPR NewsThe Denver Police Department has reopened a stretch of Broadway in the Ballpark neighborhood after it was shut down for most of the morning on Friday as they investigated the cause of a fire in an abandoned building.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at 2200 Arapahoe St. around 3:45 a.m., said Michael Shepherd, commander with the Denver Fire Department. The building was abandoned at the time.
Someone likely broke into the building and set a fire on the second floor, Shepherd said. Crews were able to control the flames before it spread to the Great Divide Brewing company next door.
“We were lucky,” he said.
An investigation into the fire remains ongoing. Drivers in the area may notice some lingering smoke.
