Getting to the airport extra early may help you avoid extra long security lines. But if you happen to get there too early, you’ll be able to kill some time at the Denver International Airport ice rink when it opens Friday.

The ice-skating rink hasn’t opened during the past two years, but is now returning the fifth time since opening in 2016 as part of DIA’s effort to be a fun place to be. It’s located between the main terminal and the Westin Hotel, near the Tivoli Restaurant and Brewery. It’ll be open through New Year’s Day.

Barring inclement weather, the rink will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.. Admission and skate rentals are free at the skate shop inside the Westin.

If a trip down the A-Line for a skate session is too much for you, there’s another option.

The rink on 16th Street Mall will open Monday, Nov. 21. The Downtown Denver Rink at Skyline Park will be open through Valentine’s Day.

Admission is free, but ice skate rentals cost $11 for adults and $9 for kids.
