Starting Jan. 25, 2024 Denverites will be able to fly directly from Denver International Airport (DIA) to Monterrey, Mexico. The new service from Viva Aerobus follows the recent addition of Aer Lingus, which will add budget flights to Ireland in May 2024.

Flights will depart Denver for Monterrey on Thursdays and Sundays at 1:35 p.m., and arrive in Denver from Monterrey at 10:05 a.m.

"We are excited to start flying to new cities in the U.S. as part of our major expansion strategy in this country, encouraging passengers to take advantage of our increased connectivity, low fares and modern fleet," said Juan Carlos Zuazua, Viva Aerobus CEO in a statement Wednesday. "This new route not only connects two individual cities but provides Denver passengers with a wide range of connecting flights that link Monterrey to over 30 key destinations to discover Mexico."

Travelers can already book flights online. A four-day trip in January, departing on a Thursday and returning on a Sunday, is currently priced at $109 per person.

The budget airline is the only route to offer direct flights from Denver to Monterrey. According to a DIA statement Wednesday, 15,000 people traveled annually between Monterrey, which was ranked as Denver's most unserved market in Mexico.

"The investment by Viva Aerobus in the Denver market supports the continued expansion of our Vision 100 goal to increase global connectivity for our passengers and community," DIA CEO Phil Washington said Wednesday. "These affordable flights will enhance the already strong bidirectional demand for travel between Denver and Monterrey and lead to further market growth."
