The 11,780-square-foot building used to house the longtime Denver manufacturer Custom Corned Beef Inc.
The three-day festival will be put on by Superfly, the promoters behind Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, and feature national acts alongside local musicians.
Under the current proposal, Superfly would lock down Overland for its music festival for five years, starting in 2018.
Two blocks of 21st Street will be shut down to cars this summer to make way for the "Square on 21st," a temporary park in the Ballpark area.
Denver officials announced Thursday they will "move forward with a process" to bring a major music festival to the city's Overland Golf Course.
"We have discussed a multi-day event with attendance in the range of 30,000 people."
In short, these organizations can be big and powerful, with full-time staff and the money to take on some serious projects.
