Population: About 8,800 people lived in West Highland during the time from 2010 to 2014, according to the five-year estimates of the American Community Survey.  About 79 percent of them identified as white, 16 percent as Hispanic and 4 percent as black.

What’s it gonna cost to buy a house here: The average home in West Highland was valued at $498,400, according to Zillow. That value has risen 14.65 percent compared to last year.

Transportation: West Highland is the 17th most walkable neighborhood, according to Walk Score, with a score of 75, and has a bike score of 74 to match. You can walk to groceries, dining and more here.

The neighborhood is served by the 38, 32 and 28 buses, and because it’s bounded by Sheridan and Federal Blvds., it also has access to the 31, 50 and 51 buses.

Education: The West Highland neighborhood has two public schools:

Parks: West Highland is home to Pferdesteller Park and Highland Park.
