Things to do in Denver July 20: Pair beer with chocolate, share art and hear stories

Beer and chocolate seem like strange things to pair, but we'll trust the experts at Fiction Brewing Company.

They'll be matching four of their brews with four chocolates from 6 to 9 p.m. Here's what the menu looks like:

  • Do Not Touch the Flamingos apricot saison paired with apricot truffle;
  • Queen Supreme sour cherry wheat paired with cherry salted caramel;
  • Feely Effects chocolate milk stout with green tea paired with triple chocolate brownie;
  • Old Bums and Beat Cowboys pale ale paired with dark chocolate-dusted glazed pecans.

Fiction Brewing is at 7101 E. Colfax Ave. Tickets are $20 in advance.


The Museum of Contemporary Art is holding its first Make & Tell event at 6 p.m.

The open mic, show-and-tell-style evening will feature poet Eleanor Perry-Smith reading from her latest work, "Revelry & Rhymein," along with members of the Jensdotter Project talking about their new art space. in Boulder.

Anyone else can bring their own work to share.

The open mic portion will last from 6 to 6:50 p.m., and the scheduled presenters will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $2.50 and the MCA Café and Bar will offered food and drinks at a discount.


The Narrators -- a monthly true storytelling show -- will take the stage at the Buntport Theater tonight.

This month, they invite you to "bring all of your bubble wrap, Blow Pops, popcorn, Otter Pops and Pop Warner football jerseys for an evening of stories on the theme 'Pop!' ' from five storytellers.

As usual, admission is free and the beer and wine is cheap. It all starts at 8 p.m. at 717 Lipan St.
