The Texas senator and former presidential candidate who was once the hope of the #NeverTrump movement is holding events in Denver and Loveland today for Republican Senate candidate Darryl Glenn.

Ted Cruz holds a rally with Republican Rep. Ken Buck in Loveland at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Then Cruz plans to be at the Park Hill Golf Course in Denver at 3 p.m.

The anti-Trump wing of the party that is associated both with the Tea Party movement and with Christian conservatism has always supported Glenn, even as Glenn has always supported Trump.

Cruz lost his #NeverTrump cachet when he endorsed Trump just a few weeks before other Republicans would be rushing to distance themselves from their presidential nominee. Glenn, for his part, un-endorsed and then tepidly re-extended his support, saying he would vote for Trump but not “endorse” him.

“I’m grateful for Sen. Cruz’s support and look forward to his visit … Wednesday,” Glenn said in a statement posted on his Facebook page. “Sen. Cruz has been on the front lines in the Senate fighting against runaway spending, the disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal, and Obamacare: all of which have been key issues for me in this campaign. With Sen. Cruz’s help, we will flip Colorado and retain Republican control of the Senate.”

A recent Magellan Strategies poll has Glenn trailing his Democratic opponent, Sen. Michael Bennet, by 15 points.
