There are a lot of ways to describe a Stephen Curry 3-pointer. Gorgeous, flawless, impossible, incomprehensible are a few of the words that come to mind.
I think the best way to describe those treys he makes from half a mile away with a defender draped all over him, though, is rude.
I mean...
What can you even do? That's insulting. He'll play a game of Dance Dance Revolution with the ball by his side, dribble it off his foot, collect it, then launch it from forever with a defender in his face, and it barely skims the rim.
Curry sunk 7 of 13 3-pointers and scored a game-high 33 points in 30 minutes Thursday against the Denver Nuggets, as the Golden State Warriors cruised to a 125-101 victory.
The Warriors (7-2) took control from the very beginning against a Nuggets team that was missing Wilson Chandler, Will Barton and Darrell Arthur. They jumped out to a 12-point lead in a little over six minutes. By the end of the first quarter, they led 38-19.
The Nuggets (3-5) struggled to take care of the ball yet again. They committed 19 turnovers. It was the seventh time in eight games they turned it over at least 16 times.
“You know obviously we dug ourselves into a big hole," Nuggets coach Mike Malone said. "Turnovers once again continued to be an ongoing issue. Nineteen tonight for 33 points. ... That’s one thing I said to our team after. I was disappointed how we came out to start the game."
One bright spot was the play of two Denver rookies, Juancho Hernangomez and Malik Beasley. Hernangomez came in and played solid defense on Kevin Durant. He also chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds.
Beasley, who subbed in during garbage time, also impressed, knocking down 2 of 5 3s on his way to 12 points in 15 minutes. But by the time he got going, it was over.
Too many turnovers, too many Golden State 3s and way too much Curry.
"The worst thing that happened to the NBA was him going 0-for-10," Malone said, referring to Curry's 0-fer night from 3 against the Lakers last week. In the three games since, Curry has sunk 24 of 38 deep balls.
The Nuggets were unlucky to be in his way.
