DENVER (AP) — John Elway has been named the honorary chairman of the 39th U.S. Senior Open, which will be held at the Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs in 2018.

Elway guided the Denver Broncos to all three of their Super Bowl titles, two during his Hall of Fame career as quarterback and last year as the team's general manager and executive vice president of football operations.

The 56-year-old Elway is a low-handicap golfer who has played in two Colorado Senior Opens and is past president of Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver.

The 2018 U.S. Senior Open will be held at the Broadmoor Golf Club's East Course from June 28-July 1.
