As many Colorado natives already have told you, there once was a mythical train that ran from Union Station to Winter Park. It returns to service tomorrow, Jan. 7, and tickets are still available for the inaugural run.

Tickets are $59 each way, $118 round trip. You can also get cheaper tickets for future dates; in fact, a round-trip ticket for this Sunday, Jan. 8, is currently running $78.

The train leaves Union Station at 7 a.m., dropping you directly at the mountain. The return trip leaves Winter Park at 4:30 p.m. The trip is about two hours, with pretty much no chance of traffic. Buy your tickets here.

If you’ve got the cash, Saturday may just be the perfect day to experience this Colorado hallmark.

We’ve got some fairly fresh snow on the mountain, and the resort will host an afternoon party featuring Ryan Kelly to celebrate.

Also, Union Station will host its own ’80s themed ski train celebration on Friday night at the Terminal Bar. It’ll feature New Belgium beer and Ski Train cocktail specials and fun giveaways. There will be a costume contest. The party runs from 8 p.m. to midnight
