You might remember that Milo Yiannopoulos is coming to visit CU Boulder. Now he’ll have company: Laverne Cox will be speaking at the same time at a different campus location on Jan. 25.

One of Cox’s best known roles was the character Sophia Burset on “Orange is the New Black.” She is widely known as the first trans woman of color with a leading role on a nationally watched television show.

Her speech, “Ain’t I A Woman: Journey to Womanhood,” will be at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 25. Tickets are $2 for CU Boulder students, $10 for faculty and staff and $20 for others. The venue is Macky Auditorium, which has a maximum capacity of about 2,000.

Cox’s event will be put on by the Cultural Events Board and Distinguished Speakers Board, who made no mention of Yiannopoulos in their announcement.

Yiannopoulos is the author of articles on the right-wing news site Breitbart about how women would be happier without birth control or washing machines. He also says America has a “Muslim problem.”

Yiannopoulos, who is gay, has titled his tour “The Dangerous Faggot.” His free Boulder event, sponsored by the CU chapters of College Republicans and Turning Point USA,  is fully booked. It will be in the mathematics building at 7 p.m. the same day.
