A five-year-old boy was struck by an automobile this morning at the edge of Barnum Elementary School’s campus in Denver this morning, according to Denver Public Schools.

It appears the boy’s foot was injured in the collision. “We’re hopeful that it’s nothing life threatening,” said Will Jones, DPS spokesman.

The boy was struck near the southeast corner of the campus, at North Hooker Street and West Ellsworth Avenue, according to police.

Injuries were “unknown,” according to DPD, which first tweeted about the collision at about 9 a.m. today, March 20. An investigation is ongoing.

North Hooker Street was closed following the collision.
