East Colfax neighbors say the former Hangar Bar has been sold, will re-open as a new bar

Late last summer Hangar Bar, a Colfax mainstay, was forced to close for good.
The 85-year-old dive had become the subject of complaints, particularly that customers were selling drugs there. The nail in the coffin was the sale of crack and cocaine base to undercover police officers in April, and the bar officially closed in August.
Now, the East Colfax Neighborhood Association says the building has been sold. They made the announcement in an email Wednesday night:
The Hangar Bar located at 8001 East Colfax Avenue at Tamarac has been sold and the new owners will be allowed to reopen after February 1, 2019. More information on the new owner, opening date and potentially a new name will be coming soon.
The bar has had many owners over the last 85 years and we look forward to the reopening.
As soon as more information is available we will let you know.
We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
