MCA Denver is bringing its summer concert series, B-Side Music Fridays, back to its museum rooftop and to your screen.
Every Friday evening starting July 9, guests can enjoy summer concerts from the MCA's roof or live-streamed from MCA's website. The shows will feature local talent like psychedelic rock band The Kinky Fingers and Los Mocochetes, a popular Xicanx funk band.
"B-side Music Fridays are a longstanding summer tradition at MCA Denver and it is thrilling to be able to bring the musicians and music fans back onto our rooftop this summer," said Sarah Baie, the MCA's director of programming. "We learned a lot from our experience streaming the concerts onto people's devices last year, so we plan to continue offering that option for free for people who aren't able to see the shows in person."
While the MCA's exhibition space has been open to visitors for almost a year now, the museum has been gradually transitioning to more in-person music programming. Last summer, the MCA co-hosted a virtual B-Side Music Friday online in partnership with Indie 102.3 (which Colorado Public Radio, our parent company, owns), and this spring the MCA hosted a somewhat-in-person concert series called Garageband. Guests sat at reserved tables on the museum roof as bands performed from the opposite roof atop the parking garage across the street.
In-person tickets to B-Side Music Fridays will be limited to encourage safe distancing. Unvaccinated adults and children will be asked to wear face coverings at the shows. Fully vaccinated visitors can do without.
Doors to B-side Music Fridays open at 6:30 p.m., and sets will begin at 7 and at 8. General admission tickets start at $25.20 for MCA members and $30 for non-members. Indoor and outdoor 4-top tables run from $100.80 for MCA members and $120 for non-members. You can buy tickets here, or stream shows online for free.
