Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in the Laredo Highline neighborhood, south of Colfax Avenue just after 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Fire crews arrived at the 15800 block of E. 13th Place to find heavy fire and smoke conditions that caused residents to be trapped inside. Ladder rescues were conducted from the second- and third-story windows.

One of the rescues included a woman and an infant.

Four patients were treated on scene by EMS. Two of them were transported to the hospital. Officials say none of the injuries are life-threatening.

Five families were displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming have been contacted to assist those families.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
