Warm spring and summer days are indeed on the way, despite the fact that more snow is sure to fall in the coming weeks.

And with warm weather come outdoor parties and community events -- and the city wants to help make those happen.

Denver Days is back for the 11th year and will be hosted from August 4-6.

Mayor Michael Hancock created Denver Days in 2012 as a way to promote neighborhood interaction and community involvement.

Each year, there are more than 150 block parties, social events or community service activities. The initiative is led by the Human Rights & Community Partnerships and this year the agency is hoping for an increase in participation.

When the event first began, it started as a weekend-only celebration. It transitioned to a week-long event in the past few years, but this year, it's going back to a weekend celebration as it coincides with other city events such as ¡Viva! Streets Denver.

To make the events happen, the city waives park permit fees for block parties or park picnics. Free barricades will also be provided, though there is a limited supply.

The city is currently accepting applications and the deadline is July 21. If you want to host an event, go to denvergov.org/denverdays for more information. Before planning an event, the city also recommends visiting the rules and regulations for Denver's parks.
