What do you say when somebody reportedly videotapes you spraying really dumb graffiti on a lovable local mountain?

This, apparently: “I thought it was right to put your name on the rocks for remembrance.”

That's what a 20-year-old man reportedly told CBS 4 after he was charged with a misdemeanor count of defacing property, as captured by a vigilante hiker.

He just happened to find a spray can near some rocks, and he just didn't know you're not supposed to paint rocks, CBS reported. Man, it's hard out there for a 20-year-old.

This does raise the question of why you would cover your face and walk away to your new BMW once the video camera was rolling, rather than standing up for your belief in your rock-painting remembrance rights.

Well, it's a mystery.
