The closest alpine ski runs to Denver just changed hands for $3.78 million, Powder reports.

The new owner, SkiEcho, is run by Peter Burwell, a "twentysomething University of Denver alum," according to Powder. The mountain may reopen mid-December, with plans for upgraded snowmaking, food and drink.

Echo was closed to the public from 2012 through last winter, the Denver Post reported. Burwell will be the third owner in a decade, as Jason Blevins noted.

At 226 acres, Echo is about half the size of Eldora, which itself is not a big place. However, Echo is a roughly 45-minute drive from downtown, compared to about 75 minutes to Eldora.
