Denver-based Blinker beat five other finalists to a 2017 South by Southwest Interactive Innovation Award in the new economy category.
The mobile app allows people to buy, sell, finance or refinance their car using their phone, eliminating the need for outside parties.
"Blinker uses technology to put people in control of car ownership in the same way that Airbnb revolutionized their industry," said Rod Buscher, founder and CEO of Blinker in a press release. No banks or dealers which means no extra fees or markups."
In its win, the company also beat out Tokken, another Denver-based finalist in the category.
Last year, Blinker was named a "Denver Gazelle," in part for its potential for fundraising and job creation. The company currently has 54 full-time employees. In Colorado, users can buy, sell and finance cars, but the company plans to expand to Texas and beyond in 2017.
