Denver police are investigating a fatal early morning shooting in the Westwood neighborhood.

Multiple shots were fired at a home in the 4200 block of West Dakota Street around 3 a.m., police said. At least one struck a 15-year-old girl sleeping in a front room. She was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

There were five other people in the home, but no one else was injured.

Based on the high number of shots fired, police believe the shooting wasn’t random, but the target is unknown. There are no leads other than physical evidence at the scene, and police don’t have any information on a suspect.

The department asks that anyone with information regarding this homicide case call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP.
