Good morning. The high for today is a relieving 89 degrees, but there is a chance of severe thunderstorms after 2 p.m., potentially including large hail and damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service.
"We’re under a slight risk for serious storms today," said NWS meteorologist Scott Entrekin. As of 1 p.m., the Front Range had only seen light rain and gusty winds, but "some of these storms may become stronger," he said.
The storms are expected to form over the foothills and track east. NWS earlier predicted they could produce "hail up to the size of tennis balls," but that's since been downgraded to golf balls at largest.
"That'll be more confined to the strongest storms," Entrekin said.
There's also a chance of winds gusting up to 60 mph and heavy rain. The greatest threat stretches from the foothills out to Fort Morgan and Limon, potentially including Denver.
The high tomorrow is 74 with another chance of showers. The weekend will be similarly cool, and it's looking mostly sunny.
