The reigning NBA Finals MVP isn't usually the butt of the joke.

But most reigning NBA Finals MVPs aren't Kevin Durant, who nearly beat the 73-win Warriors in the 2016 playoffs, then left the Thunder and joined up with Stephen Curry and Golden State last summer.

On Wednesday at the ESPYs, ESPN's annual awards show, former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning joked that "our gymnastics team was so dominant, Kevin Durant told me he wants to play for them next year."

Durant .... didn't find the joke amusing.

Manning, refering to the U.S. women's team that won gold last summer at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, then asked Russell Westbrook his thoughts about the jab.

Manning was up there doling out haymakers. I hope, somewhere, Norm Macdonald got a laugh out of it, too.
