The first stores, coffee shop and whiskey bar are expected to pour into the Dairy Block in downtown Denver later this year, according to an announcement Thursday from the development team.
Among those expected to join the space between Blake and Wazee streets is the popular Los Angeles-based whiskey bar Seven Grand. Denver-based Huckleberry Roasters, The Perfect Petal flower shop, and a "modern" shopping concept from Denver Flea are also expected to take up some of the Dairy Block's 66,000 square feet of retail space, according to the announcement.
Mark Witkiewicz, the project manager and McWhinney's senior vice president of commercial development, said in a statement that the Dairy Block team is going after “maker tenants ” like chefs and artisans who make or prepare unique products and foods onsite.
"We want experts at their craft and artistry," he said.
Loveland-based McWhinney, Denver-based Sage Hospitality and California-based Grand American Inc. are trying to create the "first vibrant pedestrian-only alley in Denver."
What they're calling "The Alley," between 18th and 19th streets, will serve as the front entrance for Denver Flea's Roost concept and Seven Grand. The other retailers announced Thursday will be located in the lobby of the Dairy Block.
In addition to retailers, Dairy Block also features a 380-car below-grade parking garage, the recently opened 172-room Maven Hotel and Kachina Southwestern Grill and Poka Lola Social Club as well as a six-story office tower. McWhinney's Denver office, the L.A.-based coworking operator CTRL Collective and the headquarters of Romano’s Macaroni Grill will all call the tower home, according to the announcement.
