Lakeside Amusement Park. (Erica Meltzer)

Hello, this is Summer 2017. I wanted to let you know that my hours on this earth are wasting away while you sit in your air-conditioned office. The truest signs of my impending end are, as always, the schedules for Lakeside Amusement Park, Elitch Gardens and Water World.

The last full weekend of operation for Lakeside begins this Friday evening, Sept. 1, at 6 p.m. The gates will open again at noon on Saturday, Sunday and on Monday, which is Labor Day.

Lakeside also will be open next Friday evening, next Saturday and next Sunday, Sept. 8-10, but it "might close EARLY," as Lakeside helpfully inform us. It's probably best to call 303-477-1621 on the day you want to go.

Elitch Gardens, meanwhile, has already transitioned to its weekend-only schedule. Its water park shuts down after Monday. Hours for the water park this holiday weekend are 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., while the amusement park will be open several hours longer. (You can still visit the amusement park side on weekends until Oct. 29.)

Water World also ends its season after this weekend. It will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
