Head's up -- you'll need proof of vaccination to attend a show at The Denver Center. Here's more on that.

There's no business like show business, but large scale theatrical productions have been one of the businesses that have yet to return since the pandemic began - until now. The Denver Center of the Performing Arts announced the return of live performances to its stages for this fall. That includes everything from new theatrical works to touring Broadway productions and seasonal spectaculars.

The Denver Center Theater Company will ring in the return to indoor performances in August with "Wild Fire," a production based on conversations with survivors of the East Troublesome fire. The holiday season, a high point for just about every performance company, will see the return of "A Christmas Carol" and "Hip Hop Nutcracker." December will also mark the return of big Broadway shows like "The Lion King," which will begin its reign at the beginning of the month through January 2nd.

With the new year, comes a parade of offerings, like a number of well-known favorites like "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?", "Cats" and "Jersey Boys" and world premieres of new works like the musical "Rattlesnake Kate" and the play "In the Upper Room." A number of movie-based shows like "Tootsie," "Mean Girls," "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" and "Pretty Woman: The Musical" have plans to come to Denver throughout the year. Highly anticipated productions of "Hamilton," "Hadestown" and "Come From Away" finally have their rescheduled dates. A handful of performances like "1776" and "My Fair Lady" have been postponed but not yet rescheduled.

Not all tickets are on sale just yet (sorry to the "Hamilton" fans still waiting in the wings), but a few early shows like "The Lion King" are available to buy now.
