Colorado brewers proved once again Saturday they can hang with the best in the industry, taking home 38 awards at the Great American Beer Festival.
The festival awards bronze, silver and gold medals to the best beers in 96 style categories. The competition included 1,752 breweries and 7,227 beers, according to festival organizers.
Only California took home more medals (68) than Colorado. Denver was the third most awarded city behind Portland, Oregon and San Diego.
Colorado brewers took home 13 gold medals, 16 silver and nine bronze. (An earlier version of our medal count did not include Blue Moon Brewing Co.'s silver medal win.)
Judges award gold medals to world-class beers that accurately exemplify the specified style and display the proper balance of taste, aroma and appearance.
